Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I know if counselling is right for me?

.You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling. You might be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply aware that something isn't quite right. Counselling offers a space to explore what's going on and begin to make sense of it at your own pace.

2.Do we both need to attend couples counselling ?

No,  you're very welcome to come on your own.

While working together as a couple can be helpful, meaningful change can still happen when one person begins to explore things differently.

3. What happens in the first session?

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other.

We'll talk about what's brought you to counselling, what you'd like support with, and what you hope to gain from the process. There's no pressure, you can share as much or as little as feels comfortable.

4. Do I need to know exactly what I want to talk about?

Not at all.

Many people come to counselling unsure of where to begin. We can take the time to explore things together and gently find a starting point.

5. Is everything I say confidential ?

.Yes, everything you share is treated with care and confidentiality.

There are some rare exceptions where I may need to break confidentiality (for example, if there is a serious risk of harm), but this would always be discussed with you wherever possible.

6.How long are sessions and how many will I need?

This varies for everyone.

Some people come for a short period to work through a specific issue, while others choose longer-term support. We can review this together as we go, and you are always in control of how long you continue.
